Icings and Fondant

Whether you prefer fondant or buttercream, we have the best icings for all of your dessert, cake decorating, and cookie decorating needs.

  • Need to ice a cake fast?  Try ready-to-use Buttercream, a traditional American Buttercream in medium firm consistency.  It contains no butter or dairy making it the best choice of buttercreams for cottage bakers in all states.
  • Looking for Gold Cake Drip?  Add luster dusts and gel colors directly to the cake drip created by Cynful Cakez.
  • Royal Icing Shortage?  No worries.  Make your own royal icing by blending 1/4 cup of Meringue Powder with 4 cups of sifted powdered sugar.  Then whip with 1/2 cup of cold water.  (Add more water for looser consistencies.)
  • Looking for fast cookie glaze coverage?  Try Wilton's Cookie Icing.  Microwave, shake, and squeeze.
  • If you're a cake sculptor, you're going to love modeling chocolate or Dream Fondant (a blend of fondant and modeling chocolate more suitable for hot climates).  (Natalie's favorite cake art medium with long working times!)
  • Speaking of hot climates, fondants like to melt in hot humid environments.  What is the best fondant for the hot humid southern states?  Tropical fondant was designed for us!  We LOVE it!  Better stretch, longer work times, no cracking, and no sweating.
  • Use gumpaste for flowers and sugar decorations that need to harden.  
  • And you can make your own gumpaste by adding CMC powder directly to rolled fondant.  Sprinkle it on and knead it in.  (Not suitable for fondants that contain chocolate and it will not turn modeling chocolate into gumpaste.  Chocolate prevents hardening.)
